The Irmo Branch Library is unique because of its beautiful Wildlife Habitat Garden, located in a lovely corner of the property behind the library. Visitors can enjoy a quiet and restful place to read or relax in the garden amidst native plants and friendly “critters”. This year (2015), the Lake Murray Irmo Women’s Club received a grant from Keep the Midlands Beautiful to clean out overgrowth and improve the garden.
In November, volunteers, Lexington County Employees, the LCSC and Lake Murray Women’s Club members cleaned out the garden, installed native plants and trees, put down borders and mulch as well as new benches and a pet waste station. A concrete table & trash receptacle will be added soon.
